When Joomware Meets KTAR
Sunday, 24 October 2010 22:50

The whole team are very busy lately. Rushing development for the platform while having ten thousand other things on the task board. Unbelievable, right? And no one really know if we could finish all the task but what we should do is just try our best. Anyway, despite being busy and all I told myself I HAVE TO blog about Joomware Roadshow recent location which is in Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman, KTAR just last Monday. The team was overwhelmed when Joomware Community receive support from KTAR's lecturers and dean. We are overly excited when the date for this seminar was fixed on 18th October 2010. Wonder why? Because most of us in Juzit are from this very same college located in Setapak. But, of course that was years back.

Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman    When we stepped into the college compound, everything felt familiar although there were a lot of new developments in the college. More lecture halls, sport complex and I think there is a multi-storey car park also. Although we did not have all those during our time, but we still feel really proud with the advancement the college has made throughout these years.

I went to the bathroom before entering the lecture hall. The bathrooms are very much the same as I can remember, it's clean but also 'decorated' if you understand what I mean. There was a sudden nervousness when my hand turn the handle of the lecture hall. It must be awkward to be talking in front of the juniors and the lecturers. I am slightly thankful that this was a new lecture hall instead of the ones I used to attend my lecture such as DKB and DKD so the awkwardness is lessen.

My colleagues were already inide the hall setting up. When I finally took in the courage to look up, wow! it was a big group of students. I was told that students from this lecture are very active. Seriously, I was very happy to hear that. Active students mean participations and they sure did not let me down. Before the end of the talk, I told the students that I am looking forward for them to also be so active when they join Joowmare community and I meant it. A community success is highly dependent on the participations from the members. The more comments and critics they receive, the better it is. This is what we hope will also happen to Joomware Community.

The management of KTAR were very thoughful. They prepared everything ready for us inclusive of water to ease our thirst. One of the lecturer Mr Low was a photographer (the photo in the blog was not from his camera, his will be much much more pro) At the end of the talk, we were also presented souvenirs by MIss Jennifer. We were surprised with their gesture because we did not expect anything in return. A little embarassed that we did not prepare anything but we will make sure we have something back to thank all these wonderful people during our Joomware Day.

Perhaps some people can never understand why we would spend time to build up this community that will not help us in any financial ways. Yes, it took us a great deal of efforts and time meeting up with the IHLs and planning for this seminar. Every IHL's has different terms and holidays time so it will take us quite some time before we can end our roadshow. But, it's worth everything when we see enthusiastic students who have the passion to learn more and join this community sign up and participate actively in our site. That's when we feel like all the hardwork and time taken was nothing compared to the achievement and satisfaction we felt looking at the increasing number of members on board.

Lastly, we hope students from different colleges will take the initiative to befriend with one another. You never know when you need a hand from these people who are strangers to you know. And to all of you, thank you for your support and walk with us to make this community a success.
